Abstract
The question this paper will examine is which strategic levers can be used in standardization processes to gain and maintain competitive advantage. Therefore it is necessary to have a look at the different forms of standards and processes of standardization that are available as well as at the changes that lead us to the conclusion that there are strategic levers in standardization processes that have been used by different players to a different degree. Finally, I want to present some key levers, which can be used as part of a standard setting strategy.
