Abstract
The Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) develops and promotes the Real Estate Transaction Standard (RETS), a common language for systems that handle real estate information, such as multiple listing services. The primary purpose of RETS is to enable developers, service providers, and computers that deal with real estate information to "speak" the same language, simplifying the software development process, increasing interoperability of different MLS systems, lowering costs, increasing the number of products and competition among vendors, and facilitating innovation and new system implementation.
