Abstract
The Scope Alliance (SCOPE) promoted the availability of open carrier grade base platforms (CGBP) based on Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) hardware and software and Free Open Source Software (FOSS) building blocks. SCOPE did not create specifications, but developed profiles (subsets) of existing CGBP component standards and specifications and identified gaps in these specifications. Through its members and suppliers, SCOPE generated industry gap analyses, technical whitepapers, profiles, and case studies, helping to define the standard terminology and methods for consistency within the ecosystem. *Dissolved in 2012
