Abstract
This article addresses the relationship between antitrust enforcement and industry self-regulation in the United States. The author begins with a brief description of the evolution of the government's approach to industry cooperation - from visceral opposition near the turn of the century to an increased receptiveness in recent years that acknowledges the benefits of industry cooperation on at least some levels. The author then surveys three seminal cases in the area of industry self-regulation that highlight the contours of government antitrust enforcement policy.
