OBI is a global, multi-class consortium, which develops
open standards for business-to-business Internet commerce. To accomplish that, it develops and promotes standards for Internet purchases:
small dollar, non-production goods and services. Membership is open to all buying and selling organizations, technology providers, financial
institutions and others. Its founding members were large buyers and sellers who wanted to make their Internet buying and selling simpler and
more efficient.
Specifications:
Identifies specific steps in the existing purchasing process, and provides standard communications elements so buyers and
sellers have a common starting point.
