Secure idenTity acrOss boRders linKed (STORK)

Overview: Secure idenTity acrOss boRders linKed (STORK), a project co-funded by the EU ICT Policy Support Programme under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP), was officially launched in May 2008. It offers an interoperable and sustainable eID authentication platform, enabling easier access to online public services across borders for citizens in EU Member States. The objective was to develop and test common specifications for mutual recognition of national electronic identity (eID) between the STORK participating countries, and to garner their acceptance in different pioneer applications (pilot experiences). *As of July 2013, the STORK website states that the STORK project has been completed and that further initiatives will be undertaken by STORK 2.0, available at: https://www.eid-stork2.eu
