Overview: The International Cooperation for the Integration of Processes in Prepress, Press, and Postpress Organization (CIP4) is a not-for-profit standards association that creates standards to facilitate automation in the printing industry. CIP4 creates standards, specifications and best practices for the purpose of furthering the cause of process automation in printing and associated production and business operations. CIP4 seeks to promote the adoption of process automation globally, through the creation and dissemination of information on process automation methods and solutions through educational programs, industry events, trade media, online systems, social networking and other means. CIP4 may create infrastructure programs, such as certification, to support process automation in the industry, and will work to promote adoption and compliance to CIP4 standards among its members. CIP4 manages the Job Definition Format (JDF), a technical standard being developed by the graphic arts industry to facilitate cross-vendor workflow implementations of the application domain. It is an XML format about job ticket, message description, and message interchange.
