Consumer Electronics for Automotive (CE4A)

Overview: Consumer Electronics for Automotive (CE4A) is a working group of car manufacturers promoting an active standardization of mobile device interfaces. It is an authorized member of the VDA (Association of the German Automotive Industry) and members include Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche, and Volkswagen. CE4A is organized in six expert groups (EG) and their objectives include: publishing automotive specifications for the interfaces between mobile devices and automotive ECUs; standardizing those interfaces, allowing the integration of new technologies into cars; applying existing standards of the consumer electronics industry to the automotive industry; adapting and matching interface specifications; and presenting a common reference platform to standardize implementations on both sides.
