Overview: The purpose of aHIT! - an activity group within the International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium (IMTC) - was to identify and document interoperability requirements for service providers and vendors of IP Telephony and Multimedia applications. It sought to benefit the VoIP industry by eliminating standards incompatibility for service providers when dealing with multiple vendors. It also sought to promote and facilitate the deployment and implementation of seamless, reliable, and secure interoperable IP Telephony and Multimedia applications across multiple networks through the adoption of international, open standards and technical specifications. More specifically, its objectives were: to identify voice over IP (VoIP) and Multimedia Applications (i.e., VoIP, FoIP, Conferencing, Instant Messaging, Other); to identify Interoperability Scenarios (i.e., Interworking between H.323 and SIP/H.248/MEGACO/others; and to develop technical interoperability documents (i.e., Implementation Agreements) for each application and scenario. *Inactive
