Overview: The Content Alliance, initiated in August 2000 by Cisco Systems, fosterd interoperability of Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). It was open to technology vendors, service providers, and content providers in support of market expansion and the development of open standards for content networking. While the Content Alliance generated proposals for standards, it worked through traditional standards bodies such as the IETF to gain broad industry acceptance.
