Overview: The WirelessHD Consortium is an industry-led effort to define a specification for a new digital network interface for wireless high-definition signal transmission for computer eletronics products. Formed by Intel, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Philips Electronics, Samsung, Silicon Image, Sony, and Tobisha, the Consortium is the governing and creating body for the WirelessHD Standard. The WirelessHD standard, finalized in January 2008, is based on the 60 GHz spectrum and achieves high-speed rates of up to 10 Gbps at ten meters for consumer electronics, personal computing, and portable device products. WirelessHD is the first consumer electronics and technology industry-supported, digital wireless interface for instantaneous file transfers, wireless display and docking, and simplified and lossless HD media streaming.
