Overview: The 1394 Trade Association was formed in 1994 to support and promote the development of computer and consumer electronics systems which can can be easily connected via a single multimedia link, using the IEEE 1394 Serial Bus standard. The IEEE 1394 multimedia connection enables a low-cost high-bandwidth real-time data interfacing between computers, peripherals, and consumer electronics products such as camcorders, VCRs, printers, PCs, TVs, and digital cameras. IEEE 1394-compatable products and systems allow the transfer of video or still images from a camera or camcorder to a printer, PC, or television. 1394 promotes the IEEE standard and also develops its own specifications.
