Seamless Converged Communication Across Networks (SCCAN) Forum
Overview: Seamless Converged Communication Across Networks (SCCAN) Forum was an industry organization that supported an emerging open specification for the technologies that enable seamless converged communications. The SCCAN specification supported communication solutions for the convergence of Wi-Fi and cellular, voice, video and data, and wired and wireless networks. The SCCAN Forum also provided information for forum members to implement developments in seamless mobility communications. The focus of the SCCAN Forum was to accelerate the adoption of seamless mobility via: industry participation to drive continued open specification development; certification of interoperability for compliant seamless mobility solutions; awareness of the advantages of seamless converged communications; support for existing standards and open initiatives related to communications; and defining and promoting a set of interface specifications. The first generation specification defined, among other areas, the interoperation between dual-network (Wi-Fi/cellular) handsets, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and IP-PBXs.
