Overview: The UXP Initiative (UXPi) attempts to enable more rapid roll-out of systems based on 10Gbps signaling, using a. UXPi-drafted physical specification that is protocol independent for broad use across the industry. UXPi seeks to span multiple markets and cooperate with multiple other standards bodies. UXPi through its own efforts hope to allow designers and standards organizations to focus on developing value at higher levels of the application rather than spending time on the electrical issues preventing interoperability. UXPi has identified several deliverables including: earlier availability of interoperable silicon in multiple markets; earlier adoption of 10Gbps-based systems; enhanced system throughput; and reduced development costs for all of the stakeholders involved.
