Overview: The Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC) was formed to accelerate the creation of increased levels of interoperability in a network centric environment within, and amongst, all levels of government of the United States and its allies involved in Joint, Interagency and Multinational operations. NCOIC industry members work with government agencies to complete an analysis of pertinent government agency architectures, capability needs and mandated open standards to identify commonalities, synergies, conflicts, gaps and potential areas for improvement. Specific activities of NCOIC include: evaluating architectures related to programs such as the GIG, NCOW, ForceNet, C2CNet, LandWarNet, and DCGS to begin executing on this strategy; expanding a customer requirements study to include additional architectures; and developing and refining an NCO Reference Model. NCOIC also assists government agencies by: identifying open standards and their patterns of use; assessing interoperability techniques and their ability to enable NCO applications; and supporting reusable long-term solution models that can be scaled and/or replicated.
