Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Forum

Overview: Formed in 2004, the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Forum promoted acceptance of the Common Signaling Mode (CSM) and Direct Sequence Ultra-Wideband (DS-UWB) in the marketplace, and developed processes for ensuring UWB products from multiple vendors are interoperable through jointly developed standards and multi-vendor testing mechanisms. The Forum promoted DS-UWB, which allows multimedia-centric devices to send and receive multiple streams of digital audio and video at lower price points and power consumption levels than were currently available. DS-UWB was operational for several years and underwent field-testing. It was fully compliant with US regulations. The Forum was also committed to achieving a global UWB standard. *Dissolved in 2006
