Overview: The InfiniBand Trade Association (ITA) works with data center implementations, and specifically, the InfiniBand Architecture. Initial InfiniBand Architecture implementations are expected to reside within server clusters and be used to provide a unified data center fabric as well as enabling I/O sharing. The ITA draws on existing technologies to create an I/O architecture that is expected to interoperate with server technology currently available on the market. In August, 2003, the ITA launched an Integrators' List Program designed to support data center managers, CIOs and other IT professionals with their planned deployments of InfiniBand architecture solutions. The list features products that have passed a suite of compliance and interoperability tests. The ITA has also developed a specification for a channel based, switched fabric architecture that provides a scalable performance range of 500Mbyte/s to 6 Gbyte/s.
