Overview: The Service Availability Forum (SAForum) develops, publishes, and promotes high availability and management software interface specifications. The specifications enable the implementation of carrier-grade systems and services built for the benefit of Telecom Service Providers/Operators, Network Equipment Providers, and Independent Software Vendors. SAForum's specifications include: the Hardware Platform Interface (HPI) specification, which separates the hardware from management middleware and makes each independent of the other; the Application Interface Specification (AIS), which standardizes the interface between Service Availability Forum compliant High Availability (HA) middleware and service applications; and the Systems Management Specification (SMS), in development, which enables service event and error reporting by AIS and HPI.
