High Tech Broadband Coalition, The (HTBC)
Overview: The High Tech Broadband Coalition (HTBC) worked to ensure regulatory decisions and to promote increased investment in broadband networks and technologies. The coalition also supported other selective policy initiatives that held the promise of having an impact on broadband deployment. HTBC represented trade associations of the computer, telecommunications equipment, semiconductor, consumer, electronic, software and manufacturing sectors, and was committed to the achievement of rapid and ubiquitous deployment of fast, interactive, content-rich and affordable broadband services. The Coalition did not endorse or advocate a particular broadband technology; rather, HTBC promoted the idea that consumers would benefit from intermodal competition between cable modems, wireline broadband (xDSL/fiber), satellite, fixed and mobile wireless, and other delivery options.
