Overview: EPIC is working with industries, universities, and the European Commission to build a photonics industrial sector in the European economic area. EPIC works with the European Commission for research and development programs. It also owns and maintains the Photonic Technologies Roadmap and through the ACCORD program works with universities to train students on components and technologies that represent the new direction of the photonics market. EPIC members include companies, research institutes, universities, and financial partners (such as banks or venture capital organizations ) with operations in the European economic area. This includes the countries of the European Community, EC candidate countries, as well as all non-member European states, such as Switzerland.
