Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)

Overview: The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) focuses on delivering an interoperability framework of design guidelines, based on open industry standards, to complete cross-industry digital convergence. The Alliance hopes to align industry leaders in the CE, mobile, and PC industries through digital interoperability, as well as companies that offer consumers complementary products and services. The ultimate objective of the DLNA is to create a wireless interoperable network of Personal Computers (PC), Consumer Electronics (CE), and mobile devices in the home, enabling a seamless environment for sharing and growing new digital media and content services. The Alliance plans to achieve this goal by promoting the following objectives: industry collaboration and the alignment of key leaders in the CE, mobile, and PC industries on digital interoperability; a standards-based interoperability framework developed by industry that defines interoperable building blocks for consumer devices and a software infrastructure; and the design and sale of products necessary to provide consumers with compelling experiences and value throughout the home.
