Overview: The mission of the MultiFunction Products Association (MFPA) is to provide information, standards development, and development support to promote multifunction products. Members include office equipment manufacturers, application software developers, related product developers and consumers. The MFPA was formed in August of 1993 to sponsor and develop open standards for communications between printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and computers as well as standards for design and development of products that combine one or more of these functions in one unit (MFP's). Initially the Association supported the Multifunction Peripheral Interface (MFPI) standard that was drafted by the Telecommunications Industries Association (TIA) committee TR29.2, Facsimile Digital Interfaces as standard PN-1906.
