Standards Engineering Society (SES)

Overview: Established in 1947, the Standards Engineering Society (SES) promotes the use of standards and standardization in and around the engineering sector. Its membership includes standards producers and users, information specialists, and specialists outside of the engineering discipline. These members represent various public and private organizations from industry, commerce, academia, service organizations, government, and standards development organizations. SES is affiliated with the International Federation for the Application of Standards (IFAN) and the American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM). It is also accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Some of SES services include: a certification program that recognizes ability, achievement, and technical competence in the areas of standards development, standards management, standards application, and standards information; and continuing education courses for individuals or organizations to improve standardization skills.
