Standards Engineering Society (SES)

Overview: Established in 1947, the Standards Engineering Society (SES) promotes the use of standards and standardization in and around the engineering sector. Its membership includes: standards producers; standards users; information specialists; and specialists outside of the engineering discipline. These members represent various public and private organizations from: industry; commerce; academia; service organizations; government; and standards development organizations. SES is affiliated with the International Federation for the Application of Standards (IFAN) and the American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM). It is also accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Some of SES services include: a certification program that recognizes ability, achievement, and technical competence in the areas of standards development, standards management, standards application, and standards information; and continuing education courses for individuals or organizations to improve standardization skills.
