Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF)
Overview: The Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF) developed and administered technical and operating arrangements to foster growth in the communications industry. ACIF served the Australian community by: delivering standards, codes and other documents to support competition and protect consumers; driving widespread compliance; and facilitating, coordinating and implementing services to enable the cooperative resolution of strategic and operational issues. ACIF comprised a board, an advisory assembly, standing reference panels, task specific working committees, industry facilitation groups, and consumer advisory bodies. It was established by the telecommunications industry in 1997 and its members included carrier, carriage service providers, industry associations, consumer associations, and individual companies. *ACIF and Service Providers Association Inc merged into the Communications Alliance LTD, http://www.commsalliance.com.au/.
