Overview: The Portable Computer and Communications Associations (PCCA) was formed in 1992 to create an organizational forum for people in the mobile computing industry. It aims to bring together individuals from computer, networking, and communications associations to share knowledge about mobile computing, technology advances in hardware design, increasing availability of radio frequency network services, and government policy changes. Some of the projects the Standards and Architecture Committee of the PCCA have worked on include: AT commands via IP protocols; wireless data interoperability workshops; UMTS and CMDA2000 extensions to NDIS (standard STD-201); and wireless VPNs and other wireless security issues.
