Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Forum (OFDM)

Overview: The Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Forum (OFDM) Forum was an association of hardware manufacturers, software firms and other users of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing technology in wireless applications. It was established to bring together various industry representatives to discuss and debate the need for standards as they relate to OFDM technology and its use. The OFDM Forum's goal was to promote OFDM technology by lobbying standards associations to propose recommendations with a goal of achieving a single, global OFDM standard needed to implement high-speed wireless networks. Some of the Forum's initiatives included addressing interoperability between market segments and harmonizing standards and spectrum allocations, among other issues. The OFDM Forum participated in standards work through organizations such as the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) Forum. *Inactive
