Enterprise Grid Alliance

Overview: Enterprise Grid Computing was a managed architecture that aggregated the IT resources of a business data center into dynamically assignable pools. Its attributes included: scalability, load-balancing capabilities, support for a variety of systems, fault resilience through systems and interconnects, and on-the-fly additions of new systems to support incremental growth. The six areas of main concern were: confusion about what grid is and how it worked; cross-vendor interoperability; CPU and applications usage billing and accounting; security and user authentication; standards; and global enterprise grids across international boundaries. *Merged with the Global Grid Forum in 2006 to become the Open Grid Forum
