Web Application Security Consortium (WASC)

Overview: The Web Application Security Consortium (WASC) was a 501c3 non-profit formed in 2004, made up of an international group of experts, industry practitioners, and organizational representatives who produced open source and widely agreed upon best-practice security standards for the World Wide Web. WASC objectives included: identifying the security risks to e-business and privacy on the Web; establishing consistent technical terminology relating to web security issues; establishing web application security standards of best practice for secure software development; and identifying independent security review and policy guidelines. *Inactive
