Overview: The DCML Organization consists of software, service provider, and systems vendors, and promotes a DCML specification that describes, constructs, replicates, and recovers data center environments and elements. DCML allows companies to use a standard method to enable data center automation, utility computing, and system management solutions to exchange information about the data center environment. DCML provides an inventory of data center elements and the functional relationship between them and can be used to provision or reproduce a data center infrastructure and its component relationships, dependencies, configuration, operational policies and management processes. Working groups involved in the specification development process include (as of March, 2004): the framework working group; the server working group; the network working group; the application/service working group; and the marketing committee.
