Overview: The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) was formed in 2003 to promote industry standard specifications for trusted computing, including hardware building blocks and software interfaces across multiple platforms, peripherals, and devices. The primary goal is to help users protect their information assets (data, passwords, keys, etc.) from compromise due to external software attack and physical theft. TCG has adopted the specifications of TCPA and will extend the specifications across multiple platforms such as servers, PDA's, and digital phones. TCG's overall goals include: providing white papers and other materials about TCG hardware and software interface specifications; marketing programs to promote consumer awareness of the specifications; and a logo program that will enable consumers and IT departments to determine which systems are compliant with TCG standards.
