Overview: SourceForge is a web-based source code repository. It acts as a centralized location for software developers to control and manage free and open source software development. SourceForge.net maintains a repository of Open Source code and applications available on the Internet and provides services to Open Source developers such as: the SourceForge collaborative development system (CDS) web tools; project web servers; tracker (tools for managing support); mailing lists and discussion forums; companies' software releases; shell services and compile farm; MySQL database services; project CVS services; VHOST services; and trove listing. In 2013, the SourceForge repository hosted more than 300,000 projects and had more than 3 million registered users, although not all were active.
