Interoperable Informatics Infrastructure Consortium (I3C)
Overview: Established in 2001, the Interoperable Informatics Infrastructure Consortium (I3C) was formed to develop and promote common public reference solutions for the life sciences industry by providing the community with open solutions that could be leveraged, extended or customized for accelerated discovery and product development. A main objective was to establish a common set of exchange protocols and ultimately, a common architecture to facilitate data exchange and knowledge sharing. Working Groups included LSID, Registry, and Security. Work areas were Chemiinformatics, Pathways/Systems Biology, and life science object ontology. *I3C was dissolved in early 2012.
