Liberty Alliance Project
Overview: The Liberty Alliance Project was formed to deliver and support a federated network identity solution for the Internet that enabled single sign-on for consumers as well as business users in an open, federated way. Such a federated identity can include (for example), a person's online identity, their personal profile, personalized online configurations, buying habits and history, and shopping preferences, with the information being administered by the user to permit sharing only with with the organizations of their choosing. The Alliance sought to guide the development, deployment and evolution of an open, interoperable standard for such a federated network identity. *Transferred operations and materials to Kantara Initiative in 2009.
