Overview: The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers is a non-profit professional association formed in 1969 to provide professional development services to cable telecommunications professionals and set standards. Its membership includes over 15,000 engineers, technical professionals, installers, and managers. It is also the cable telecommunications organization accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the U.S. national standards body. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) also recognizes SCTE, allowing SCTE standards to be referenced by the ITU. SCTE submits standards to the ITU through the U.S. Department of State and works in cooperation with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
