Overview: RosettaNet creates, implements and promotes open e-business standards and services. It comprises companies in the electronic components (EC), information technology (IT), logistics (LG), semiconductor manufacturing (SM), solution provider (SP) and telecommunications (TC) industries. RosettaNet was founded in February, 1998 and as a result of a merger announced in August, 2002, is now a subsidiary of the Uniform Code Council. RosettaNet's goal is to build on existing open e-business standards, guidelines and specifications for cross-platform, application and network communication. The RosettaNet Implementation Framework's (RNIF) core specification provides exchange protocols for implementation of RosettaNet standards. The RNIF specifies information exchange between trading-partner servers using XML, covering the transport, routing and packaging; security; signals; and trading partner agreement.
